The aim is to share news and events among Manifesto partners as well as letting people know about relevant DCSF activity. In this 'Conference Special' edition of the e-newsletter, we provide an update on the launch of the Out & About package and details of the Learning Outside the Classroom Conference, both of which took place on 2nd October.

			First National Learning Outside the Classroom Conference As part of this ‘Conference Special’ edition of the newsletter, Manifesto Champions Peter Carne and Mike Tones give an overview of the first National Learning Outside the Classroom Conference, which took place in Greenwich this October.

			Learning Outside the Classroom Awards Castlechurch Primary School in Stafford was named winner of the 2008 National Learning Outside the Classroom Award for Innovation and Excellence. Headteacher Gill Hampton takes us through Castlechurch’s winning philosophy and how learning outside the classroom helps her school.

			The Paul Hamlyn Foundation launches new initiative to encourage innovation in school-led residentials Denise Barrows, education and learning programme manager at the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, introduces a new £2.25 million initiative to help schools make the most of residential learning experiences.

			Lights, camera, education! The students from London’s Thomas Tallis school provide their perspective of the conference and what they learned on the day.
